The Research Science Institute (RSI) is an intensive, cost-free summer research program for academically talented high school students completing their junior year. Organized by the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) in collaboration with MIT, it typically runs for six weeks on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA. RSI offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in scientific and mathematical research. The application period for Summer 2027 is expected to open in November 2026, with a typical application deadline in mid-December 2026. To be eligible, applicants must be rising high school seniors (current juniors) and show exceptional academic achievement and potential in science and mathematics.
