The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) hosts the STEM Solutions Competition, inviting K–12 students to develop and pitch engineering solutions to real-world problems. Students in grades K-2 utilize a STEM Solutions Worksheet to draw their solution and provide an explanation. Prizes include Back-to-School STEM Kits, with specific items tailored for K-2 and 3-5 grade bands. The competition opened on July 1, 2026, and submissions are due by August 14, 2026.
Who's eligible
Students in K–2 and 3–5 grade bands.
How to enroll
Identify a problem, design a solution, and create a short pitch explaining the idea and STEM concepts. K-2 students use a STEM Solutions Worksheet to draw and explain their solution, then upload a picture or scan.
