For the 2026-2027 season, online pre-registration for regional competitions opens on October 6, 2026. Teams consist of five middle school students (one alternate) and a teacher acting as an advisor and coach, all attending the same school. Regional competitions typically occur from January to March, with a Nationwide Middle School Virtual Regional Science Bowl also available. Specific regional deadlines for Team 1 registration are usually around late November following the pre-registration opening. The competition takes place nationally, with regional events leading to national finals.
Who's eligible
Teams of five middle school students (one alternate) and a teacher advisor/coach from the same school.
