SAMS aims to provide opportunities for students from underrepresented communities to explore STEM fields, offering a rigorous curriculum, hands-on projects, and college credit. The application deadline for the Summer 2027 program is February 15, 2027. The program typically includes a virtual "Jumpstart" component in June, followed by the in-person residential program in Pittsburgh, PA, during July and August. Enrollment requires an online application, unofficial high school transcripts, two letters of recommendation (one from a current math instructor), two essays, and documentation of financial need. Scholars are responsible for their travel costs to and from Pittsburgh.
Who's eligible
High school juniors who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and at least 16 years old by the program start date. Focus on students from underrepresented communities.
