The Pioneer Research Institute, offered by Pioneer Academics, is a selective, fully online, and accredited research program for high school students (grades 9-12) worldwide, with various subject areas including mathematics. Students work one-on-one with university professors to conduct original research and produce an undergraduate-level research paper, earning four college credits through Oberlin College. The program offers Spring-to-Summer (February–April) and Summer (June-July) terms for 2027. Applications for the 2027 Research Institute are currently being accepted, with the final deadline for Spring applications released in the 3rd week of October 2026, and for Summer applications in the 2nd week of January 2027.
Who's eligible
High school students in grades 9-12 worldwide with strong academic records and demonstrated interest in independent research.
How to enroll
Complete an online application with personal details, academic interests, essays, unofficial transcript, and a teacher/counselor recommendation. Standardized test scores are optional.
