While national Division A (Elementary) Science Olympiad tournaments are not as widespread, many states offer regional competitions. The North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO) opens team registration on September 1st for its upcoming season. Division A is for elementary school-aged students, typically grades K-6, with competitive tournaments specifically for grades 4-6. Schools can register teams to participate in regional tournaments, which can qualify them for statewide competitions. For the 2026-2027 season, registration is currently open.
