The American Mathematics Competitions (AMC 10 and AMC 12), organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), are prestigious 75-minute, 25-question multiple-choice exams designed to challenge and develop mathematical problem-solving skills in high school students. The AMC 10 is for students in grades 10 and below and under 17.5 years of age, while the AMC 12 is for students in grades 12 and below and under 19.5 years of age. The 2026-2027 competition dates are November 5, 2026, for AMC 10 A and AMC 12 A, and November 13, 2026, for AMC 10 B and AMC 12 B. Early bird registration for the 2026-2027 cycle begins on September 30, 2026, with a fee of $55. Regular registration closes on October 15, 2026 ($75 fee), and late registration by October 28, 2026 ($115 fee). Students typically register through their accredited middle/high schools, colleges/universities, math circles, or learning centers, as individual student registration is not direct through the MAA. The competition is administered nationally across the United States and in over 30 other countries.
